Taryn Palumbo Announces Campaign Bid for Huntington Beach City Council

Parent, attorney, nonprofit leader, and longtime Orange County resident launches campaign focused on commonsense leadership with key endorsements

Huntington Beach, CA — Today, parent, attorney, and nonprofit leader Taryn Palumbo officially announced her campaign for Huntington Beach City Council. Four seats will be up for election in November 2026, creating a pivotal opportunity to bring new leadership to the city.

Taryn enters the race with strong support, including endorsements from former Huntington Beach City Councilmembers Dan Kalmick and Rhonda Bolton, and Newport-Mesa Unified School District Trustees Michelle Murphy and Dr. Leah Ersoylu.

“I’m running for Huntington Beach City Council because our community deserves leaders who focus on local priorities, not politics,” said Taryn Palumbo. “I want Huntington Beach to remain a safe, thriving place where families succeed, businesses grow, and neighbors look out for each other.”

“As a parent raising two young children here, I’m fed up with city leaders who prioritize a national political agenda ahead of residents,” Palumbo continued. “My commitment is to always put our families and neighborhoods first, and to bring commonsense, community-focused leadership to City Hall.”

Raised in Fountain Valley, right outside Huntington Beach, Taryn comes from a family rooted in service and hard work. Her father built a small business repairing military electronics, and her mother worked as a juvenile probation officer for Orange County, helping young people find a second chance. Taryn attended Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic School and graduated from Mater Dei High School. She then went to Loyola Marymount University for a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in biology and then Chapman University School of Law.

Taryn’s career spans roles in policy and small business engagement at the Bolsa Chica Conservancy, the Orange County Business Council, and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Today, she serves as Executive Director of Orange County Grantmakers, a regional philanthropic network that connects nonprofits and community leaders. She has also served as an appointed member of the Huntington Beach Community and Library Services Commission.

Dedicated to being involved in her community, Taryn is the Incoming Chair of OC Forum, serves on the Board of the World Affairs Council, and is a member of the National Women’s Political Caucus OC, OC Hunger Alliance, and Women in Leadership OC. She and her husband, Ryan, are proudly raising their two young children in the same community where she grew up.
